We support healthcare workers to thrive in our unique work environment by teaching practical, relevant tools to counter burnout and facilitating opportunities for authentic conversations.

How We Started

The Center for Resiliency was founded in 2016 at Dell Children’s Medical Center in Austin, Texas.

The vision of creating a Center dedicated to supporting the well-being of all healthcare professionals grew out of weekly conversations with pediatric medical residents.

These young doctors were struggling in a medical culture that encouraged compartmentalization and disconnection to survive.

We simply knew that had to change, not just for them, but for all of us.

A generous, anonymous donor jointly recognized this need and provided the founding funds to embark on this adventure. We knew that we had to do more than provide pizza parties and ice cream sundaes on difficult days. We needed to figure out how to change ourselves and our medical culture so that the work we love would be sustainable for us as humans as we are “healing people. staying human.”
